Read About Perri Ann Parkman
Perri Ann Parkman was born to a police officer and veteran father and a working mother and grew up in a low-income area of El Paso Texas. Perri Ann very quickly learned the value of hard work and began working after school at the age of 14 in a local hair salon. After graduating high school, she attended Technical School and studied the field of Cosmetology to help her pay for college. At the age of 20 she married her high school sweetheart and had two daughters who she adores. Perri Ann was an active volunteer at the girl’s school and at her lifelong church, Highland Presbyterian. She not only earned a reputation as being one of the best color specialists in the area, but she was also hired by several companies to represent their wares as a consultant and teacher. At 32, she bought her first hair salon and soon after became a single mom. She continued to work in her business and taught the science of Cosmetology to other beauty professionals. In 1998, she met her husband Bruce who was attending the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy and dated him through his deployment to Kosovo leading soldiers and they married in 2001. This was one of the busiest portions of Perri Ann’s life as, by this time, the family moved to Albuquerque, her husband deployed to support the Afghanistan invasion after the Twin Towers fell on 9/11, she opened another hair salon, and her husband started a company. In 2003, she and her husband welcomed their son Mac, who was born while her husband was away waiting to cross into Iraq for the invasion. Devoted to her career she opened another salon in her new home state of New Mexico and created a Day Spa in the heart of a mountain town where she also volunteered at the local Charter school and her son’s private Christian school. In 2009, Perri Ann relocated with her husband to Colorado where Perri Ann became a Yoga teacher, MELT Method instructor, fitness trainer and Neuro Muscular massage therapist. As an active PTO mom, classroom volunteer and sports trainer she was known for offering free or donation-based classes to those in need and was famous for her Florescent Fossil Bed yoga hikes. In 2013 they bought a property in Anna Maria and summered there with their family every year, enjoying the Florida sunshine. In September of 2022, the Parkman’s suffered enormous tragedy when their son, Mac, committed suicide due to mental illness he acquired from playing consecutive contact sports since he was 6. Riddled with grief the pair moved to their retirement home they had purchased in 2013 in Manatee County to restart their life as empty nesters. She and her husband started the Mac Parkman Foundation for Adolescent Concussive Trauma to advocate for awareness and training in the risks associated with a child’s developing brain and contact sports. Eighteen months later the diagnosis of Breast Cancer was given to Perri and the subsequent surgeries and treatment lasted another 18 months.Devoured by grief and her own mortality Perri Ann resolved to use her experiences to help her community. Perri Ann became active as a Deacon in her church and offers MELT Method sessions and free Holy Yoga on Anna Maria Island. She speaks publicly on the issues of child’s brain health and on Mac’s story to inspire people to improve their ability to protect their child. Being a Christian conservative has served her well in life as her love of God has guided her through the worst of the worst as she exhibits grace under pressure, always looking for the best in people and makes the best Tacos in Florida!
